Why this kit matters
The British A39 Tortoise was a heavy assault tank developed during the final years of World War II. Designed to break through fortified enemy positions, it featured exceptionally thick armour and a powerful 94mm gun. Only a handful of prototypes were built, and the tank never saw combat, but its imposing presence and unique design have made it a favourite among military historians and model builders.
The Tortoise represents the British Army’s approach to overcoming heavily defended positions, reflecting the engineering challenges and tactical thinking of the era.
