In 2014 05-4086 transferred to the 95th FS “Boneheads\" at Tyndale AFB who in April 2016 sent F-22s to RAF Lakenheath to train with other aircraft and display how quickly F-22s can be deployed world wide. The USAF's ATF program aimed to produce a fifth-generation air superiority fighter that would be better matched against emerging new aircraft such as the Su-27 Flanker. The F-22 uses stealth technology and can function in air superiority, ground attack, intelligence and electronic warfare roles.
